The Art of Rendering

Check out THIS comprehensive and extremely informative article about all things rendering written by Mike Seymour over at www.fxguide.com

In the words of Mike: “Once considered a commodity item in the whole CG / VFX world – rendering is now a hot topic. CG supervisor Scott Metzger jokes that one can’t talk about renderers without annoying someone. “Renderers are like religion (laughs). Rendering is a religion! Especially now in this era, which is really really exciting, there is so much going on and there are so many renderers, so much happening. To me it is the most exciting part of being in our industry right now.”

A recent project of mine lead me to modeling one of these awesome gadgets and in the process I had a few learning curves which I thought it best to share with you guys.”

Maxon had just release a press release announcing the new Cinema4D that will be available September 2011.

Looks like Maxon did a huge over haul of all things rendering and character based. Also added was increased Stereoscopic workflow tools that were needed before.

“Aimed at beginner to intermediate users this course will go through the entire process of creating a highly realistic interior scene using Cinema 4D and VRay. We will model the environment, furniture and accessories and then move on to exploring materials, light and camera parameters, colour mapping, VRay’s various GI engines, its Image Sampler and antialiasing techniques, as well as IES lights, HDRI and Depth of Field. We will finish up by taking our final image into Photoshop for some post production techniques. The tutorial culminates in the exploration of other lighting methods including the creation of an alternative evening mood.” -Envy
